![]() Again, we loved the tour and the cave just recommend taking a moment to remember what you mean to those that come through. No you are not going to get tipped from many out their but most likely their will be people like myself and my partner who will see your struggle and try to make it right. You are not just tour guides, you are educators and are blessed with the opportunity to inspire just by putting on the uniform. Take advantage, make them leave ranting about how amazing the cave was. What a great opportunity to share your passion and knowledge with them. When people like this come to a place like this they are taking it upon themselves to see something amazing, experience and learn a little about something they most likely have never had the chance to experience before. She did a fantastic job but needs to remember that the world is full of all kinds of people from all kinds of different educational backgrounds. The young lady giving the tour did her absolute best but definitely let her frustrations show. group of people that made it very hard to enjoy and even harder for the tour guide. We tried to salvage the day by seeing this one. We were on the last tour of the day after getting pissed off about our entire experience inside Mammoth Cave National Park. This place is packed with formations to see. When I asked if it was okay for her to tell us her age I expected her to be older but discovered she was 17!! She has maturity way beyond her years and was so knowledgeable about the cave and it’s lengthy history.ĭiamond Caverns is one of the most gorgeous caves I have ever seen and have trained their staff right, they should be proud to have an establishment and guide like they do. ![]() She treated all of my children with the utmost respect (which was a pleasant switch from the other caves we visited)Įlizabeth maintained a professionalism I wouldn’t even expect from an adult, while still being fun and outgoing. She calming just assured him she’d get to his next questions once she was done talking about that section. When my autistic son began to interrupt her despite our attempts, instead of being rude and short. As well as making conversation as we moved through the cave with us as well as the other families. The cave was astonishingly beautiful, the formations cover the cave all over! She answered my children’s at least 5,000 questions with good solid answers you’d expect her to give to an adult. Throughout the tour Elizabeth calmed us as she could already see our worried expressions, assuring us that his as well as our other children’s on going questions were not a problem. My oldest son as well as 5 year old daughter started right out of the gate with questions before even entering the cave, we prepared for exasperation from the young guide but we’re pleasantly surprised with patience. We were given a young guide named Elizabeth, she called for the tour with a smile (you could even see through a mask). The gift shop staff was kind with all of our questions, but the real standing out factor was our tour guide. They do require masks for gift shop and tour, and had a very clean and family friendly environment. The tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for children. The final breakthrough awesome tour came from Diamond Caverns! We almost didn’t do it but decided on our way we would check it out, and we are so so glad we did. But we visited mammoth cave, the crystal cave as well as the Lost river cave in bowling green and were saddened every time by the guides treatment of my child that was just excited about the caves. Now I’m not saying that every place must be perfect with my child, autistic children offer their own sort of challenges many people will never understand. My oldest son is 7 years old and has severe Aspergers a disorder that puts him on the Autism spectrum and can make it very difficult for him to understand social Cues. That being said me and my husband have been disappointed with the treatment of our children at many establishments that were not Diamond caverns. This was a last minute trip for me and my family just a quick visit to Kentucky before the school year. We visited the Diamond cavern cave last week.
