![]() It becomes clear that Meg, who is closed-off and often abrasive, isn't versed in zoo politics. When the zoo discovers that has produced viable eggs, without mating, Jata begins to receive attention from the media and the scientific world. Having never been close to her parents or her phlegmatic sort-of-boyfriend, Meg finds fulfilment in looking after Jata. Meg is the keeper of her zoo's Komodo dragon, Jata. ![]() Most of The Dragon Keeper takes place in the zoo where Meg Yancy works. Mejia's books differ in style and subject-manner, yet genre distinctions aside, each one of her story is underlined by a tense atmosphere. This the third novel I've read by Mindy Mejia and it certainly has a unique premise. The Dragon Keeper tells a very specific type of story. Mindy Mejia's gripping debut novel highlights the perils of captivity and the astonishing ways in which animals evolve. And as she fights to save the animal she loves from the consequences of its own miracle, she must learn to accept that in nature, as in life, not everything can be controlled. Finally forced to deal with the very people she has avoided for so long, Meg discovers that opening herself up comes with its own complications. Faced with this rare phenomenon, Meg must now defend Jata's hatchlings from the scientific, religious, and media forces that converge on the zoo to claim the miracle as their own. Jata has produced viable eggs-without ever having had a mate. Then one day, Meg makes an amazing discovery. ![]() Meg has always been better able to relate to reptiles than to people, from her estranged father to her live-in boyfriend to the veterinarian who is more concerned with his career than with the animals' lives. A species that became endangered soon after being discovered, Komodos have a legacy of independence, something that Meg understands all too well. Jata brings the exotic to Meg's Minnesotan life: an ancient, predatory history and stories of escaping to freedom. Meg Yancy knows she may be overly attached to Jata, the Komodo dragon that has been in her care since it arrived at the zoo from Indonesia. ![]() Similar to other characters, part of her name means a color in this case it means Cherry blossom ( 桜 さくら, Sakura ? ) a trait that she shares with her brother as they share a last name.A zookeeper fights to save the animal she loves, even as her own life crumbles around her.Sesera's surname Sakurama means "cherry blossom" (桜) ( sakura) and "while, time, interval, space, pause, chamber, room, apartment, leisure, chance, entr'acte, intervening, as" (間) ( ma).The name Seresa means "world" (世) ( se) and "brightness, radiance, shine, sparkle, gleam, twinkle" (輝) ( ra). With her divine tool, she was capable of knocking a miniature version of the executive, Peltrola into space. It is presumed that she is strong as she is the leader of a Ranger Division and was able to easily beat down 4 gangsters single-handedly. Not much is known about their relationship but she seems to be both pessimistic and overprotective with a Brother Complex Abilities However, the Blue Keeper at the time saved her and her brother and continued to raise them even after he retired. Thirteen years prior to the story, Peltrola, an Executive from the Villainous Army, raided the church that her family attended, resulting in several deaths and leaving Sesera permanently disabled after debris fell on her legs. Sesera Sakurama was born into a typical family with her younger brother, Hibiki, being born after her.Īt a young age, their parents instilled in the siblings a sense of justice with religious beliefs, but while Hibiki was receptive to this, Sesera did not seem to care and has remained pessimistic. Sakurama has long, pink hair with green eyes and wears the Pink Keeper uniform and when untransformed she uses a wheelchair.
